Ayush Mahesh Khedekar, the 11-year-old who plays the younger version of Jamal in the Oscar-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire, is now all set to play the lead role in a Swiss film. The movie is called Shyam’s Secret, and is set in India.
The film is being written, directed and produced by Deborah Mangola of Mangola Films. Adam Bedi of the Superconscious fame and Lalit Ajgaonkar of The Whisperers fame are the co-producer and co-writer respectively. It will also star Marianne Borgo of 8th Wonderland, Benjamin Feitelson of Le Missionnaire and Kabir Bedi of Take 3 Girls, along with Nisha Harale-Bedi.
Shyam’s Secret is the tale of the friendship between an Indian boy called Shyam and an 8-year-old European girl. The film is being made in both English and French. The French version would be called Le Secret De Shyam. The film is being shot in Goa and is slated for release in 2010.
The kid celeb Ayush has already taken the world by storm with his acting, which seems to be in his genes. His father, Mahesh Khedekar, was into Marathi theatre for a while. Ayush has been appearing in advertisements since he was only four.
