In Bollywood, relationships seem to be quite hollow. As opposed to the show that’s put up in front of the
shutterbug, behind the camera it’s either cold war or hot verbal onslaught. Every move that’s meant for the
fans and audience is, most often than not, a façade. If two warring stars are shown hugging each other in
public, there is bound to be a motive behind it.
Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, who were once thick friends, can’t bear to look at each other now. A
supposedly insensitive comment on Aishwarya Rai reportedly triggered the hotheaded Salman. Out went
years of camaraderie the two Khans shared. Just like their friendship turned into animosity, there are stories
of foes turning friends. Till a while back, Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan were out taking each other’s
case on their respective blogs. However, good sense prevailed (or was it just a move made on foresight?)
and Aamir decided to patch up with the Big B. not only did he attend the premiere of Sarkar Raj but also
invited Bachchan senior for the launch of his home production, Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na.
SRK, on the other hand, is an actor who has stuck by the side of his friends despite the highs and lows.
Nevertheless that his first production house with Juhi Chawla and Aziz Mirza, failed to make blockbusters,
he is still thick friends with them. In fact, he made Juhi and husband, Jai Mehta, partners of his Indian
Premier League team. Moral of the story is one cannot put a finger to a-particular conclusion looking at
‘friendship’ in Bollywood. It is showbiz and you never know what’s genuine and what’s put up for show.
