She came with a posse of kids, who immediately scampered off as soon as the film rolled. Clearly, the kids were not interested in the film.
After the film was over, she was seen walking unescorted to her Toyota Corolla. Dressed in a garish pink kurti and ill- fitting jeans, with her hair down and minimal make- up, she could have been just another face in the crowd. Unlike a few wannabes from television, also spotted at the show, in short dresses and gladiator heels, Tabu looked a far cry from the glamour industry she is associated with.
A source adds, “Tabu has become a recluse in a way. She keeps to herself, does not mix with the party crowd, is hardly seen at events, and you will not find her hitting the spots in town. She has very few friends, and tends to venture out on her own for films or shopping.”
“With hardly a handful of films on her hand and no public life, Tabu sits at home listening to her favourite old songs and writing poetry,” the source further explains.
With no marriage on the cards and her long-established single status, we wonder what’s up with the torchbearer of sensible cinema- the last champion of the thinking man’s diva. Has she isolated herself from films - we hardly see her in more than one film a year- or is she on her way to something new - perhaps a new path of directing a film - a la Nandita Das?
Hard to guess, but here’s hoping she bounces back into limelight with her cache of exciting projects with Amitabh and Aamir.
