She has finally decided to demystify her secret once and for all. Kareena Kapoor, we hear, has turned dietician for a bit, penning “quite a few chapters” of an upcoming book on “correct dietary habits“. The book, which is expected to release early next year - around January or February - has pulled off a nice coup by getting the actor at the centre of the Size Zero debate, to become a guest writer.
Sources also suggest that the actor might not even take credit for the chapters she has written herself as that might be construed to mean that shes been paid by the publishers. “Kareena Kapoor has already written the foreword and the introduction of the book but as of now, she has chosen to be a guest author and not a co-author of the book,” said a source close to the actor.
The book itself is now at the proofing stage and the official writer of the book is Kareena’s long-time dietician Rujuta Diwekar. Its being published by Random House Inc, considered the worlds largest English-language general trade book publisher.
Sources also confirm that Kareena Kapoor has promised to “take time out of her schedule to promote the book at least in India.” As of now, the book is somewhere between 300-350 pages.
According to sources, the chapters Kareena has written are specially aimed correcting misinformed dietary habits of Indian teenagers, who the actor feels form a large part of her fan base. “There are chapters where we specifically talk about what Kareena eats in her day-to-day life and how you can slim down even while gorging on ghar ka khana.
There are also chapters on how teenagers crave for parathas, cheese, etc but avoid them as they are considered fattening. But its a myth. These are the chapters that have been written by her,” says the source.
In other chapters, large portions were dictated by Kareena to Rujuta while they were brainstorming for the book. “Kareena writes brilliantly. You need to see the drafts to believe it,” were told.
When After Hours contacted Rujuta, she confirmed that such a book is indeed on the anvil. “The book was conceptualised when there was this whole smear campaign against Kareena in the media (during the release of Tashan) about how she’d gone on a crash diet to get the figure she wanted. She was upset with some people who suggested that she had surgically removed two of her ribs to attain size zero. How ridiculous is that?
That is when we thought of penning a book about how to eat correctly and still lose weight.”
Rujuta refused to reveal details about the extent of Kareena’s involvement with the project just saying that there are “creative inputs from her”.
