Karan Johar’s upcoming production, dealing with the subject of terrorism, wasn’t allowed to be shot in an underground tube station of London.
It’s going to be a different kind of film from Dharma Productions which is known for making mushy dramas and now gay comedies too. But this untitled flick, being directed by Rensil D’ Silva, ran into trouble when the British authorities didn’t allow Karan Johar to shoot in an underground tube station because of security concerns.
A major scene involving a terrorist attack in the film was set in tube station. And Johar had tough time seeking permission for shooting in London where an actual attack had taken place in tube trains in 2005. Unable to get the permission, the whole crew had to shift their base to Philadelphia, where they not only got the permission, but an entire train for their shooting.
Jagmohan Mundra, whose film Shoot On Sight was based on London bombing, too faced problem regarding getting permission to shoot at some crucial locations in London, but somehow he managed when UK Film Council interfered.
When it comes to London, Karan admits that he is sentimental about the city, as he did the shooting of his Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham there. London has always been a favourite destination for Bollywood folks. And in recent times many movies are not only shot there but named after this beautiful city - like the under-making London Dreams and superhit Namastey London .
Back to Karan’s latest production, the movie’s shooting is on at full pace in Philadelphia. The movie stars Saif Ali Khan , Kareena Kapoor , Vivek Oberoi and Om Puri .
