If last November proved golden for Bengaluru-based model-turned-actress Deepika Padukone after playing King Khan’s eternal love interest in the gloriously-hyped Om Shanti Om, this year, as Anushka Sharma would love to believe, may be hers. The upcoming star, after all, boasts of almost identical credentials. From being showstopper for fashion designer Wendell Rodrick to Bollywood’s potential A-lister, Anushka is heading in the right direction. Considering she has been fiercely guarded against media glare, SRK’s demure leading lady, as desired, is creating much curiosity.
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, which hits the screens on December 12, takes a look at how true love can bring out the colours of the seemingly mundane and find its path amidst apparent differences of age and attitude. It celebrates life through the emotion of love and expression of dance. Speaking of which, the promos of its ditty, Dance pe chance are quite a pleasant surprise. Not so much for its beat (Salim-Sulaiman) as for Anushka’s smooth moves and an agile body language.
Hailing from an army background in Bengaluru, Anushka began her innings on the ramp at a very tender albeit confident age of 15 and featured in several commercials like Silk & Shine and Fiat Palio. The latter, interestingly a spin off on Mere sapno ki rani from Rajesh Khanna-Sharmila Tagore starrer, Aradhana, also co-stars Fashion hunk Arjan Bajwa. Co-star Shah Rukh Khan is as generous in his praise. In an interview to a television channel, he fondly pays compliments to his teenaged co-star by mentioning how he learned so much from her.
