It’s a simple case of supply meeting the demand. The native actresses downsouth have become too expensive for the wallets of the producers. So the production houses have begun roping in failed actresses from Bollywood at cheaper prices to add oomph and glamour to their films.
Sneha Ullal , the Aishwarya Rai look-alike, who debuted in Bollywood with Luck opposite Salman Khan , made a successful entry in Telugu films with hit movie "Ullasanga Uthsaahanga". She has also signed an untitled Telugu film with Vaibhav to be directed by Bhanu.
Sneha has now been approached to do a Kannada remake of "Ullasanga Uthsaahanga" featuring top star Ganesh , who is ready to adjust his dates for her.
Nisha Kothari , once a blue-eyed girl of Ram Gopal Varma is nowadays making it big in Kannada cinema. After being rejected by the Hindi film audience, Nisha took the obvious path to the south and is presently working with stars like Puneet (Raj Kumar) in ’Raaj’.
Girija Oak, who featured in a small role in Taare Zameen Par as Aamir Khan ’s girlfriend, is to star in director Hemanth Hegde’s ‘Housefull’.
Also in the same league is Koena Mitra , who recently shot a sizzling dance number with Surya for a south film.
