Mona Singh and partner Harbhajan Singh won the dancing competition Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena on Colors and Mona said Bhajji as a true sport, who slogged it out till the end.
“Bhajji has true sportsman’s spirit," said Mona, "there were times in the competition when we didn’t receive those good compliments that we were used to from the judges but he always remained the same, unmoved and persistent.
Given his fiery temper on the field, did this surprise her? "He was very chillded always and we never had an issue," says Mona, "both of us enjoyed the contest throughout."
This is the second time that Mona has won a dance competition, the first being when she edged out Shweta Salvi in Jhalak Dikhla Ja. "It’s always a great experience," she said of dance competitions, "the competition again was really tough but I was fortunate to have had Bhajji with me."
"On the first day of our rehearsals we were going through the paces for Billo Rani," says Mona, "it had a step where Bhajji and I had to match the movement of our shoulders. Bhajji was finding it difficult to get that right, and the way he was practicing for that step was hilarious. But undeterred, he stuck through it till he cracked it,” she laughs.
Though she’s delighted she won, Mona says that that by itself was unimportant. “I never think of winning and losing. This was just dancing for me and I had fun. It was only in the finals that I became a little conscious about the results” says the actress. Since there was no public voting, there was the advantage of not being under pressure.
