After managing to hold his place opposite the much-talented superstar in The Last Lear , Arjun Rampal has now landed another role with Amitabh Bachchan .
Over the last few years, Arjun has grown out of the tag of ‘wooden actor’ he was given by the critics. With his performances in Om Shanti Om , followed by Rock On , Arjun has proved his mettle as an actor. And ‘The Last Lear’ marks a new high in his career. So much so that even Mr. Bachchan could not resist lavishing praises on Arjun at the premiere of ‘The Last Lear’, almost driving the handsome actor to the point of tears.
Now, Arjun and Big B are set to work together again in Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi ’s film on emperor Ashoka and his son Kunal.
The tinsel tattle has it that it was Mr. Bachchan who recommended Arjun’s name to play son Kunal. Big B was finalized to play emperor Ashoka in June.
Dwivedi has been working on this project for about a decade. It is the story of relationship between king Ashoka and his son Veera Kunal. Kunal was blinded at a young age and left his father’s kingdom. After many years he returned and demanded his son Sampriti to be made the successor.
The movie’s script is based on Buddhist scriptures called Avadana. The film, titled ‘Kunal Avadana’, might be produced jointly by AB Corp and Anil Ambani’s Reliance group.
