Misunderstandings between Bollywood celebrities are common and the way some film personalities have reacted to Shabana Azmi’s comments proves it yet again. Actress and social activist, Shabana, seemed to second the opinion of Saif Ali Khan and Arshad Warsi about a particular community finding it difficult to get an abode in Mumbai. The comments created quite a ruckus and Saif safely backed out of his claim. However, Arshad and Shabana stuck to their point and this seems to have irked many in B-Town.
Here are some such reactions:
Shashi Ranjan, Producer: “It is quite irresponsible to say that partiality exists just because of a few such cases. Because a few feel that a particular community is getting alienated, it doesn’t prove that the democracy of our country isn’t working. Saying that a particular community is being targeted is wrong.”
Ashok Pandit, Director: “We are worried about our state and country. I request them to not make such irresponsible comments. It is a big lie and a dangerous statement. The entire country gets involved, not just the film industry.”
Aadesh Shrivastav, Music Composer: “Whoever said it, shouldn’t have.”
The story so far: When Saif Ali Khan and Arshad Warsi went house hunting in a posh area of Mumbai, apparently they faced discrimination owing to their religion. In view of the volatile response from the film industry, Saif changed his view and said that he was wrong. However, Arshad stood by their opinion. Now that the film fraternity itself is not rendering support to their woes, we wonder how soon before the duo back off.
