2008-09 Budget is on its way and Bollywood actress Preity Zinta along with senior politician Renuka Chowdhary and some NGO met Finance Minister P Chidambaram to urge him to keep the budget women-friendly. She wanted him to provide incentives for women in the industries.
It was a 20-minute long meeting where they discussed with him about the needs of women. Today, Preity is actively participating in the development of women. She wants single women and widows to get home loans. She also wants to work for better hygiene and personal sanitation and desires to have free and compulsory education for girls.
Preity discussed with Mr. Chidambaram the helplessness of the poorer section. She urged him to give some special provision for the less privileged people who think that their girl child is a burden for them. Preity was the only spokesperson from the film industry among other women who met the Finance Minister. She is highly impressed to meet Mr. Chidambaram. “He is highly qualified and wonderfully articulate. We had a very positive meeting”, said Preity.
